Aewsome

When I emailed a new picture of myself to my daughter, she replied with this comment. ‘aewsome!’  I sincerely hope she meant to say ‘awesome.’ What a difference a letter makes!  I’ve made the same kind of mistake myself.

Haven’t we all opened our mouth (or our email) and sent forth words that said something we didn’t mean? That’s one reason I sympathize with the disciple Peter. He practically made a career of miss speaking. Why, he even had the nerve to rebuke the Lord Jesus!

Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.” (Matthew 16:22, NASB)

Jesus wasted not a moment setting Peter straight.

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.” Mathew 16:23, NASB)

Let’s learn from Peter’s struggles with his mouth; not to judge Peter but to mind our own.

Prayer –  Lord, help us to think before we speak, whether it is in person, or by social media. For Christ, Amen
