Petitions, Prayers, Intercession, and Thanksgiving

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people. (1Timothy 2:1)

What does this mean?

Petition-an appeal or request to a higher authority or being

Prayer-a spoken or unspoken address to God. It may express praise, thanksgiving, confession, or a request for something such as help or somebody’s well-being.

Intercession-the action of pleading on somebody’s behalf  

Thanksgiving-a prayer that offers thanks to God

If someone really upsets you, the most wonderful thing you can do is pray for them. Before you know it, your negative feelings disappear and you will even feel kindly toward the person you previously spoke so vehemently about.

And friends, we will also be obeying God.
