I’ve pondered these words since adding them to the May 23 devotional. What an unusual way to phrase things. What on earth was St. Patrick really thinking?
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I’ve come to this conclusion. He was praying for protection and favor for himself. If others see us with the hearts, mouths, eyes and ears of Christ than they see us as Christ sees us…with love.
Do to others as you would have them do to you. (Luke 6:31, NIV)
Prayer- Father God, show us how to see others exactly the way we want them to see us. Amen.
