John 8:36–If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed (KJV).
When our tour group flew to Israel, I was bumped to first-class. What an experience! Hot steaming towels before meals, fancy printed menus, and gourmet dinner choices! The man beside me didn’t speak English very well. When he saw the menus, he muttered repeatedly, “No price! No price!” He pointed this fact out to me. He even grabbed my arm, repeating again and again, “No price! No price!”
He was right. There were no prices beside the food choices. I thought the food was free, but I had never been in first-class before. Maybe I couldn’t afford to eat there, either! No one was able to convince him to order a meal. Dinner was excellent. Like God’s love, it was totally free. My travel buddy went hungry because he was afraid of the cost of the free meal.
Romans 2:5a–And now, through Christ, all the kindness of God has been poured out upon us undeserving sinners (LB).
How long will we keep trying to pay for God’s gift of salvation, when the cost is No Price!
Prayer: Lord, remind us again of the freely offered sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
