Before 1960, the Yukon Gold potato didn’t even exist. It was developed right here in Ontario, and finally made it to grocery stores in 1980.
You just can’t wreck a Yukon Gold. Bake, boil, roast, fry; grill if you will, it can take it.
It tends to be a bit on the sweeter side as taste goes. It’s a bit larger than some potato varieties and it has a smoother skin and a definite gold tinged flesh.
Finally, when I heard that Yukon Gold potatoes even absorb flavours better than other types, I wanted to be one; well in the spiritual sense anyway.
Think about it. No matter what you do to a Yukon Gold, it holds its character. It takes whatever you hit it with and keeps on giving its best.
I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory. (1 Peter 1:6-7, MSG)
Prayer – Father God, when everything is going wrong from our point of view, help us to remember that we can be Yukon Gold, just by trusting you and never giving up, no matter what kind of heat we have to take. In the name of Jesus. Amen
