Hebrews 11:1– The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. (MSG)
“Bet you can’t read this correctly,”she said with a grin. It looked easy enough (Mr Ducks, Mr Knot, Mr Sew, whale oil bee, Mr Ducks).
I read what I thought I saw. “Mister Ducks, Mister Knot, Mister Sew, whale oil bee, Mister Ducks.”
Laughing, she replied, “That’s what it looks like but it really is to be read this way. “Em are Ducks. Em are not. Em are so! While I’ll be, Em are ducks.” What I thought I saw was not what I saw!
Swimming ducks paddle their little webbed feet furiously under the water. On top, our eyes only see large flocks of birds dotting the waterways. Which are the ducks?
Life is like that, isn’t it? When we concentrate on what we see, our eyes only see distress, sickness, family troubles, disease, loneliness, fear, death, dishonesty, murders and war. The part we don’t see is so much bigger than our little reality. In the midst of terrible life issues, God is teaching willing souls how to trust Him. Are we one of those?
Prayer: Lord, help us see that you are in charge. You are our firm foundation and the Handle on what we cannot see. You make our lives worth living. Thanks! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
