The ’Lost’ Finale: Live Together Or Die Alone!

With millions upon millions of viewers worldwide watching with weary hearts as the ABC series “Lost” wrapped up, a moving finale full of closure transformed on television last night that united everyone together for two and a half hours.

‘Lost’ concluded its six season saga with a heartbreaking and thought-provoking conclusion that simply cannot be described unless you see it all from the beginning!

While I wish to write about the major moments and plot of the finale, I find myself troubled that I may ruin an amazing series for those who wish to watch the show in it’s entirety. So instead, I want to encourage the Christian community to check out this series, and see what the fuss is all about.

The finale, and ultimate conclusion deals with major questions about life after death, and what this life on Earth is all about. As Christians we can relate to this, because our entire faith rests on our existence with our heavenly Father after we have passed on from this world. While “Lost” does not choose a deity, it does hit on some important questions that every person faces.  What does this all mean? Why am I here? What’s the point of all of this? Does my life matter? Who am I? Where am I going? Is there good? Is there evil? What’s my purpose?

The elements of faith, forgiveness, doubt, love, hope, fear, power, greed, and so much more are played out in a fictional thriller that reaches every person where they are skillfully.

What I loved the most about “Lost” and the finale, is that every viewer got a different version. Yes it was all the same on TV, but the connections that viewers make with the characters, and how they perceive the storylines and actions played out in front of them are all subject to personal belief and examination.  This makes ‘Lost’ one of the BEST shows of all time.

Another interesting aspect of ‘Lost’, is the loyalty and unity of the “Lost”’s fan base.  I have never seen a show, or movie develop such a loyal following and such a united community. For example, you may not know a single person on the “Lost” Fan Page, but you walk away sharing your perceptions of the show with thousands of others who may or may not have had the same feelings.

J.J. Abrams, Jeffrey Lieber, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have created a show that unites these unlikely characters, while uniting these unlikely fans in a family that has LIVED through these years, GROWN in these years and is now LETTING GO of these years shared together on “Lost.”

The whole show stands on a phrase: Live Together, Die Alone.  In the finale you learn, If you live together, you will never have to die alone. Something that every person can take to heart, and learn from

So go ahead, Get “Lost” in this generation’s most amazing show on television!

I have just re-watched the finale, and I realised ‘live together die alone’ has to be the meaning of the whole show too, so I did a search on google for live together die alone and I found this. Im glad someone else had discovered the same meaning as me
