Time for a Diet

1 Peter 5:8: Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. (AMP)

Peter had good reason to compare the devil to a lion. Webster’s Dictionary says the lion is the largest of all carnivorous animals. To put one’s head in the lion’s mouth is to put oneself into a position of great danger. A lion expects the “lion’s” share, that is preferably the whole or at least the largest amount of flesh available.  Our job is to see that the flesh the devil is eating is not ours.

Galatians 5:19-21: Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), envy, drunkenness, carousing and the like. I warn you before hand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (AMP)

Galatians 5:24: And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, we sense there is no time to waste! Thanks for Your Holy Spirit, who helps us withstand the devil, be firm in faith, rooted, established, strong and determined. (1Peter 5:9a-AMP)  With Your help we can turn the devil into a vegetarian!  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
